PENTWATER — A 59-year-old Farewall, Michigan woman was pronounced dead early Friday morning, Sept. 2, after falling down the stairs in the 600 block of Second Street, according to Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum.

Marguerite Nellie Forsberg was pronounced dead at the scene.

“On Sept. 2, 2016 at approximately 1:55 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 600 block of Second Street to assist with a 59-year-old woman who was not breathing,” states a press release from Hartrum. “Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered the victim lying at the bottom of a basement stairwell and began CPR.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the death was a result of falling down the stairs. No foul play is suspected.”

Pentwater Police were assisted by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Victims Assistance Unit, Pentwater Fire Department, Life Ambulance, and the Oceana County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“The investigation will remain open pending the results of toxicology analysis,” stated Hartrum.
