WEARE TOWNSHIP — A 70-year-old Pentwater woman admitted to police that she had been drinking following a rollover crash Wednesday evening, Aug. 31, on West Jefferson Road east of 88th Avenue, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The woman was eastbound on Jefferson Road in a 2002 Ford F350 pickup truck at approximately 8 p.m. when her truck “began a yaw, crossing the center of roadway,” the report states. “The rear of the truck was almost sideways in the roadway when it left the roadway. The right rear box of the truck struck a large tree spinning the truck back 180 degrees and overturning. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Driver was extricated by fire and EMS personnel. Driver was transported to the hospital by EMS. Driver admitted to having been drinking prior to crash.”

The Hart post of the Michigan State Police, Oceana County EMS, and Hart and Pentwater fire departments assisted at the scene.

According to the report, blood samples of the woman were taken, and the crash remains under investigation. No passengers or other vehicles were involved in the crash.
