PENTWATER — Pentwater teacher Carrie Jeruzal has been awarded “Middle Level Art Educator of the Year” by the Michigan Art Education Association and will be recognized at the MAEA fall conference in Traverse City.

Jeruzal has been teaching art for 15 years and has been at Pentwater Public Schools for 10 years. Some of her career highlights include being awarded the 2014 Minx M. Auerbach Award for Excellence in Teaching; winning the 2013 MAEA Professional Development award; 2011 Fellowship Recipient Korea Academy for Educators; 2010 Fellowship Recipient China Study Tour Indiana University/National Consortium for Teaching About East Asia; 2004 Fellowship Recipient Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund and other various classroom grants.

Jeruzal has been published in periodicals such as SchoolArts Magazine and has written for the Michigan Arts Education and Instruction Assessment Project. She was recognized by Superintendent Scott Karaptian and Pentwater Public Schools Board of Education, Aug. 15.

“We know that she deserves this honor and are grateful she is a part of our school family,” states a press release from the school district.
