PENTWATER — Are you going to Pentwater’s Homecoming Grand Parade Saturday, Aug. 13?
Pentwater Service Club members and other volunteers hope spectators will bring a few extra bucks to put into their collection canisters along the parade route to help pay for the July 3 and Homecoming fireworks displays.
The Pentwater Chamber of Commerce must raise approximately $13,000 each year to stage two such events each summer. That’s an ambitious undertaking for a small community. It’s only possible because businesses, organizations, residents, visitors and friends of Pentwater have continued to help fund them.
“We are currently $2,000 short, but the Homecoming fireworks WILL happen as the Chamber has already made the payment,” said Eva Gregwer, executive director.
Besides the freewill collection during the parade, those wanting to contribute can find canisters placed in various local businesses. Donations also can be made on-line at www.pentwater.org;
dropped off at the Chamber office (324 S. Hancock Street) during business hours; or put through the mail slot there after hours. Also, contributions can be mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 614, Pentwater, MI 49449. Checks should be made payable to “Pentwater Chamber-Fireworks Fund.” For more information, call 231-869-4150.
