GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — Jason McClelland, 42, of Houghton Lake, Michigan was airlifted to Munson Hospital in Traverse City via Aeromed after the dune buggy he was driving Tuesday afternoon, July 26, at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes went “airborne over a hill and landed hard resulting in severe pain in his back and inability to move his lower legs,” said Oceana County Undersheriff Tim Priese.

McClelland’s 16-year-old son was a passenger in the dune buggy and was not injured, Priese said.

According to Central Dispatch information, DNR officers, Oceana EMS and the Hart Area Fire Department assisted the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office with the crash that occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. A landing zone for Aeromed was established at the Cornerstone Community Church, at 7640 West Taylor Road.
