PENTWATER — With the August 2 primary election fast approaching, the Pentwater Service Club is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates” event Wednesday, July 13, at the Pentwater Friendship Center, 310 N. Rush Street, beginning at 6 p.m. The public is cordially invited.
Area voters will find on their absentee ballot, or at the polls on Aug. 2, the names of 22 candidates who are seeking one of eight, county-wide posts.
Invited to participate Wednesay are the 19 candidates in the five contested county races: District One Commissioner, Drain Commissioner, Road Commissioner, Sheriff and Treasurer. Each will be given five minutes to talk about their qualifications and the major issue they feel the winner will face. They’re invited to stay after the program to chat informally with voters.
There are three other candidates running unopposed for Prosecuting Attorney, Register of Deeds, and Surveyor. While there’s not enough time for them to speak, moderator Larry Konopka will recognize those who attend and invite them to stay and mingle afterwards as well.
