Sheriff’s office offers free boater safety classes.

PENTWATER — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is offering free boater safety classes at the Pentwater Yacht Club, at 205 S.Dover Street.

The first sessions are Thursday and Friday, July 14 and 15, from 8 a.m. until noon. The second round of classes are Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4 and 5, also from 8 a.m. until noon.

Contact Deputy Timothy Simon at 231-873-6771 during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to pre-register and for more information. Pre-registration is required, and a parent or guardian must accompany a child under age 10. All students must attend both days to complete the course.
