Counterfeit bill used at local business.

counterfeit $The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a counterfeit $100 bill that had been accepted at a local business Monday, June 13.

“Upon inspection, it was found that this was a motion picture prop that has (the wording) printed right on it in several different locations, ‘For Motion Picture Use Only,'” said Lt. Craig Mast. “But the bill looks very accurate and without a close inspection of the bill may very well be accepted.

“The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office asks that everyone who accepts money as payment to inspect those bills to try to prevent something like this from occurring,” Mast said. “If you do come across a bill that is not legal, please call 911, and a deputy or officer will investigate it.”
