HART — Hart Police Chief Dan Leimback was awarded the Police Hall of Fame Longevity/Retirement Award by the Hart City Council this week.

Leimback will retire next Thursday, June 23, after serving the department for 40 years. The 63-year-old chief began working for the Hart Police Department part-time in June of 1976, and he became chief Feb. 1, 1980.

Leimback has also been a member of the 911 Board since its establishment as Mason-Oceana 911 in March of 1992.  The 911 board presented a plaque to honor him at his final 911 Board meeting Wednesday, June 15.
