HART — A 54-year-old Hesperia man who faces charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) and second-degree CSC in 27th Circuit Court was arrested May 12 by the Michigan State Police during service of a felony warrant for third-degree CSC and fourth-degree CSC now also faces six counts of felony firearm possession after troopers found six guns in his possession.

Victor Manuel Gonzalez, Jr., of 3630 Baker Rd. is being charged as a second-offense habitual offender.

The CSC charges he faces in circuit court involve a victim under the age of 13. The new CSC charges involve a mentally-incapacitated victim, according to his court file.

A search warrant of his home yielded six firearms, including five long guns and one pistol, according to the police report. Two long guns were located inside a “secret vault” built into a fireplace. One of the long guns, a JC Higgins model 33 was still in “loaded” condition with one round in the chamber, ready to fire, when police found it between two mattresses, the report states. Troopers seized the firearms.

Gonzalez is set to appear for a final pretrial hearing on the first- and second-degree CSC charges in circuit court Monday, May 23, at 9 a.m. A preliminary conference in 78th District Court for his latest charges is scheduled for May 23 at 3 p.m.

He is lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
