WALKERVILLE — Walkerville Schools was placed on lockdown today after an individual was seen near the school with a firearm. Superintendent Michael Sweet said he approached the individual and determined the firearm to be a BB gun.
“The playground was cleared and the school was immediately put on lockdown,” Sweet said in an all-school alert message. “Law enforcement was notified of the incident and the lockdown was lifted.
“To ensure the safety of all students and staff, we moved to inside passing and indoor recess for the remainder of the day.”
