GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old North Muskegon man faces a felony charge of larceny in a building for allegedly stealing two wedding rings valued at $4,150 from a house in the 4000 block of West Park Road.

Cory Scott Lidke, of 413 Center St., was working at the home as a subcontractor, installing carpet for a local flooring company, according to the police report.

He was arrested by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office March 25 and was recently arraigned in 78th District Court in Hart.

The police report contained in his court file states that he admitted to the police officer who interviewed him that he took the rings, because he was hurting for money and being evicted from his apartment. He told the officer that he needed the money to provide a home for his child, the report states.

Lidke reportedly sold the rings at Gold Recyclers in the Lakes Mall in Norton Shores for $320 last December. Police seized the rings.

A preliminary conference in district court is set for Monday, April 11, at 3 p.m. His bail was set at $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent.

The maximum penalty for larceny in a building is four years in prison.
