HART — The following were arraigned recently in front of the 78th District Court Magistrate:

– Robert Eric Cupps, 38, of 7524 E. M-20, Hesperia, was arrested Feb. 19 by the Michigan State Police (MSP) for felonies of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) – sexual penetration of a victim under the age of 13 and fourth-offense habitual offender. Preliminary conference: Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. Bail: $10,000/cash/surety/10 percent cash. According to court records, the alleged incident occurred Jan. 1, 2003 in the Village of Hesperia. First-degree CSC is punishable by up to life in prison with a mandatory minimum of 25 years, lifetime electronic monitoring and mandatory AIDS/STD testing. Cupps was previously convicted of felon in possession of a firearm in Newaygo County, Feb. 13, 2014; surveying of an unclothed person in Oceana County, June 28, 2010; and receiving and concealing over $1,000 in Newaygo County, Sept. 15, 1998, according to his court file.

Misdemeanors

– Nicole Marie Vermeulen, 29, of 2747 Forrest St., Rothbury; Rothbury Police Department; third-degree retail fraud. Pretrial: March 1 at 4 p.m. Bail: $2,500/cash/surety/10 percent cash.

– Daniel Ryan Hendrick, 18, of 3593 S. Maple Island Rd., Hesperia; MSP; Feb. 19; two counts of domestic violence. Pretrial: Feb. 24. Bail: $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent.

– Melissa Sue Yager, 26, of 3091 W. Tahoe Tr., New Era; MSP; improper license. Pretrial: March 1 at 10:45 a.m. Bail: $1,000/cash/surety/10 percent cash.
