Man dies after vehicle crashes into fence, power pole, house.

MSPENSLEY TOWNSHIP, (Newaygo Co.) — A 54-year-old Newaygo man died following a one-vehicle crash on East 128th Street, near Butternut Avenue, Tuesday, Feb. 23, shortly after 9 p.m., according to a press release from Hart post of the Michigan State Police.

Based on preliminary investigation by troopers at the scene, it is believed that the man suffered some type of a medical emergency while he was driving, the press release states. “The vehicle drove through multiple yards, crashing into a fence and power pole. The vehicle came to a stop just prior to crashing into a residence.

“The driver was unresponsive on scene. Witnesses to the crash took quick action and were able to pull the driver from the vehicle and begin CPR.  

“With the help of Sand Lake Fire Department and Life EMS, a pulse was reestablished and the driver was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids via Life EMS. The driver was later pronounced dead while at the hospital.    

“Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash. This crash is still under investigation at this time and the name of the driver is being withheld until family can be notified. Troopers on scene were assisted by Sand Lake Fire Rescue, Life EMS, as well as several good Samaritans.”
