Intruders break into 3 cottages.

OCSO cruiserCOLFAX TOWNSHIP — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 9400 block of North 192nd Avenue to investigate a breaking and entering at a cottage on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, in the early in the afternoon, according to Lt. Craig Mast.

“Upon arrival to the area, deputies found that three cottages had been broken into recently,” Mast said.

“Distinctive pieces of log furniture” with an estimated value of $600 were stolen from the first cottage, located at 9487 N. 192nd Ave. Damage was also done when the culprits forced entry into the cottage.

Two kayaks, a motion light and a job site radio, with a total approximate value of $1,200, were stolen from a cottage located at 9489 N. 192nd Ave. The cottage also suffered damage to the structure when entry was made.

Another cottage, located at at 9477 N. 192nd Ave., had been broken into, but nothing immediately appeared to be missing, although a window was damaged.

The case is under investigation. If anyone has any information, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 231-873-2121.
