Fire destroys garage.

HESPERIA — Firefighters from three area departments battled a garage fire Friday afternoon in blustery, frigid conditions, saving the adjacent home from major damage.

Lt. Jason Newman of the Hesperia Fire Department said the garage at 129 S. Munn St. was a “total loss,” and the house sustained some smoke and water damage.

Ferry Township and Fremont fire departments were dispatched to the scene for mutual aide. No injuries were reported in the fire, which was dispatched at 4 p.m.

Hesperia was also called that same night to assist the Fremont department at a structure fire from 7-11 p.m.

“We had a very busy weekend on the fire department,” Newman said.
