HART — The 53-year-old Montague man who appeared to have run over a property owner with a quad during a trespassing dispute that was recorded on video in Grant Township was sentenced in 78th District Court Monday, Dec. 21, to six months probation and $400 in fines and costs.

Ronald Leroy Wallace, of 4927 Bowen St., pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of recreational trespassing. One count of felonious assault was dismissed.

“The victim wished to extend mercy on the other gentleman,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. The lenient sentence is what the victim wanted, Bizon said.

Wallace was also ordered to have no contact with the victim nor enter his property. The property owner received minor cuts and scrapes as a result of the altercation, Bizon said.

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 7600 block of South 108th Avenue, Nov. 5. Most of the incident was captured on video by the property owner’s cell phone, which went viral on social media.

Shortly after police released the video, many calls came in to the sheriff’s office identifying Wallace as the quad driver.
