27th Circuit Court sentencings include CSC, welfare fraud, meth possession

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 27th Circuit Court:

Riley

Riley

– Edward James Riley, 34, of 2163 Indian Trail, Muskegon, was found guilty Oct. 26 of lying to a peace officer. He was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve nine months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 76 days served; 18 months probation; no alcohol/drugs; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of failure to register as a sex offender was dismissed.

– Diana Velazquez, 37, of 7095 S. Clearwater Court, Rothbury, was found guilty Oct. 26 of welfare fraud/failure to inform over $500. She was sentenced Dec. 7 to $47,005 in restitution; $400 in fines and costs; three months discretionary jail; three years probation; and must make genuine effort to find and maintain legitimate employment.

– Justin Ruben Jobbins, 30, of 554 N. Morris St., Pentwater, was found guilty Oct. 26 of altering or forging a document. He was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve 30 days up front of an 11-month discretionary jail term with credit for five days served in jail; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of driver failure to maintain security was dismissed.

– Juan Ramon Martinez, 46, of 7125 Driftwood Rd., Rothbury, was found guilty Oct. 26 of assault with a weapon. He was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve nine months on a tether; a 10-month discretionary jail term; one year probation; and $400 in fines and costs;

– Daniel Eugene Ackerberg, 23, of 290 Hawley St., Hesperia, was found guilty Oct. 26

of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve 90 days up front of a nine-month discretionary jail term with credit for two days served; work release allowed; two years probation; $400 in fines and costs; no alcohol/drugs; and no contact with the victim. One count of assault by strangulation and one count of fourth-degree child abuse were dismissed.

– Abigail Delight Dutton, 27, of 64 S. Michigan Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Oct. 26 of harboring felons. She was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve 30 days up front of a nine-month discretionary jail term with credit for 30 days served; one year probation; and $400 in fines and costs.

– Ryanthoni Hilliard, 20, of 9154 S. Oceana Dr., Rothbury, was pleaded “no contest” Oct. 13 third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC). He was sentenced Dec. 7 to one

year in jail with credit for five days served; must register as a sex offender; no contact with the victim; five years probation; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of third-degree CSC was dismissed.

– Nicole Marie Jackson, 25, of 2929 S. Lakeview Dr., Hesperia, was found guilty Oct. 12 of possession of meth. She was sentenced Dec. 7 to serve 154 days up front of an 11-month discretionary jail term with credit for 154 days served; two years probation; driver’s license suspended six months/restricted after 30 days; and $400 in fines and costs.

– Marisa Martinez, 40, of 2480 W. Cleveland Rd., New Era, pleaded “no contest” Dec.

3 to food stamp fraud $250 or less – second offense. She was sentenced Dec. 3 to a 93-day discretionary jail term; credit for one day served in jail; $1,500 in restitution that must be paid within six months; and $300 in fines and costs.

Morpeth

– Edward Anthony Morpeth, 58, of 9561 Oaklawn St., Montague, pleaded “no contest” Oct. 26 to two counts of first-degree CSC. He was sentenced Dec. 7 to two concurrent terms of 14-60 years in prison with credit for 85 days served in jail; mandatory lifetime monitoring; and $326 in fines and costs. One count of first-degree CSC was dismissed.
