VICTORY TOWNSHIP (Mason County) – The Manierre Dawson Gallery, on the campus of West Shore Community College, is currently exhibiting the work of the college’s art faculty.
Photographs by Rob and Becky Alway, acrylic paintings by Cheri Petri, watercolors by Michele Anscombe, and clay sculpture and pottery by Rebecca Mott are on display until December 15.
Mott’s ceramic work in the exhibit is a culmination of her sabbatical research completed this summer on alternative firing processes. The final firing of most the pieces displayed was done in a specially constructed 55 gallon barrel kiln using renewable sources of fuel — primarily wood chips and sawdust.
She will be presenting an informal gallery talk about her research and artwork on Friday, November 13, at 12:30 p.m., in room 303 of the Arts and Science Center and then moving to the gallery.
The Gallery, located in the Arts & Science Center, is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and evenings and weekends during events in the Center Stage Theater.
