HART — A 21-year-old Shelby man was sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Oct. 26, for probation violation.

The probation of David Allen Wellington, of 2800 W.Buchanan Rd., stems from a 2013 conviction of gross indecency between a male and a female.

Judge Anthony A. Monton sentenced Wellington in “excess of the guidelines,” he said, “considering the numerous amount of violations.” Wellington “exhausted all his remedies for local county jail time,” said his attorney, Rick Prysock.

“I did what I did; I messed up; there’s no excuse,” Wellington said.

He received credit for 335 days served in jail.
