New Era man pleads to receiving, concealing trailer

HART — A 55-year-old New Era man pleaded “no contest” in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Oct. 12, to receiving and concealing property valued between $1,000-$20,000, which was a 22-foot-long covered trailer.

Joseph Marion Terheggen, of 5881 48th Ave., was initially charged with three counts of receiving and concealing stolen property, but two of the counts were dismissed in a plea deal.

The plea agreement calls for 30 days in jail

Receiving and concealing property $1,000-$20,000 is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Terheggen “came into possession of a covered trailer” last September in Golden Township and later “disposed of the trailer in Kentucky,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. It was a a 22-foot-long enclosed trailer, said Judge Anthony Monton.

Sentencing is set for Nov. 23 at 9 a.m.
