Oceana Drive work ‘substantially complete’

SHELBY — Construction on Old US-31 (Oceana Drive) between M-20 and the south village limits of Shelby and from the north village limits of Shelby to the Pentwater River north of Hart is “substantially complete” according to Leo Evans, assistant construction engineer for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

Work on Old US-31 within the Village of Shelby is still ongoing through a separate project that is being handled by the village, Evans stated.

“There will be an additional one to two days of lane closures needed to the farthest right southbound lane of Old US-31 near Star Hill to make repairs to a failed downspout.  This section of Old US-31 has two southbound lanes, so one lane will remain open in each direction at all times during this work.  The work has not been scheduled yet but will likely occur in the next one to two weeks,” he stated.
