HART — A 23-year-old Hesperia man convicted of one count of assault with a dangerous weapon stemming from an incident last June when he threatened and assaulted a male victim with a tire iron in Greenwood Township was sentenced Monday, Sept. 28, in 27th Circuit Court to serve six months of a one-year discretionary jail term.

Simon Gabriel Saldana, of 6415 E. Garfield Rd., pleaded guilty to the felony last month.

The sentencing guidelines for the conviction are 0-17 months, said Judge Anthony Monton, who also ordered that Saldana serve two years probation with a condition that he cannot consume alcohol or drugs and must submit to testing.

One count of domestic violence and one count of second-offense habitual offender were dismissed in a plea agreement.

He received credit for 83 days served in jail.
