SHELBY — A driver of a Roadway semi truck who was pulling out of Advanced Architechural near the Dollar General store struck a power pole, knocking it down, and causing another power pole to be dragged down Monday, Sept. 21, at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The two downed power poles, which affected approximately three transformers, caused a widespread power outage, said Shelby Police Chief Bob Wilson. “Most of the town is out of power,” Wilson said. No one was injured, he said.

Crews from the village’s Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Shelby-Benona Fire Department are on scene. Consumers Energy reported to the scene at approximately noon. It was not immediately known how soon power would be restored.
