HART — A free six-week Stanford University diabetes self management class will be offered Tuesdays beginning Sept. 15 to Oct. 20 at the Oceana County Council on Aging.

A diabetic-friendly supper is included each week for free.
In addition, a free six-week “Cooking Matters”  course taught by Michigan State University Extension nutrition program instructor Stephanie Ostrenga will be held at the Hart Wesleyan Church, 3757 W. Polk Road on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Sept. 21 through Oct. 26.
This course is for adults who want to learn more about selecting nutritious foods, planning healthy meals, and using budget-friendly ingredients.  Participants receive a resource book filled with tips for good nutrition on a tight budget, food planning, shopping, & preparation tips, and recipes.   They also receive free groceries each week to prepare one of the recipes at home.  Call MSU Extension at 873-2129, extension 6866, to sign up for “Cooking Matters.”
