American Legion hosts all-day benefit to repair roof

HESPERIA — The Thomas Richard Annis American Legion Post 411, at 4075 S. 198th Ave., is having a Benefit to Fix and Upgrade the Roof, Wiring, Equipment, Etc. Saturday, Sept. 19.

There will be a Building Fund Donation can at the front door, and a craft show will run from­ 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Veterans & Friends Mystery Bag Ride begins with a blessing at 11:30 a.m. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon, and the ride will be from noon to 5 p.m.

Enjoy a beautiful ride, winding around the countryside past several lakes. You will play a game; pick a card; or receive a mystery bag at each stop. The cost is $10 for each rider.

Honoring the Military and Lighting the Luminaries begins at 6 p.m. with all military lining up at the tank. There will a short program to honor all military past and present. Luminaries are $5 each.

Dress in your oldies outfit and listen to the music of the Roaring 20s and beyond. Bring your own lawn chairs, but coolers are not allowed.

Pizza and burgers will be served from noon to 2 p.m., and ice cream and desserts will be available from 2-5 p.m.

A potluck picnic begins at 5 p.m., and the dance starts at 9 p.m.
