PENTWATER — An assault at one of the downtown bars Saturday evening, Aug. 15, is under investigation, said Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum following the weekend Homecoming celebration that draws thousands of people to the village.

A person was scratched during the alleged assault, Hartrum said, which occurred in the 300 block of S. Hancock St. at 7:50 p.m.

There were also two verbal domestic situations over the weekend, the chief said, and 18 parking tickets were issued.

The Hart Police Department was dispatched to a disturbance at the J&H Family Store on Polk Road Saturday at approximately midnight, said Hart Police Chief Dan Leimback. Three males entered the store attempting to buy alcohol, but when they were refused service due to not having identification, one subject allegedly created a disturbance. The subjects were gone when officers arrived at the scene, Leimback said.

HPD also handled a gas drive-off Friday, Aug. 14, at 3:14 p.m. at the Mobile gas station on Polk Road. Fuel totaling $20 was taken.
