August 12, 2015

HART — A 53-year-old Hart man is lodged in the Oceana County Jail on charges of resisting/obstructing/assaulting police; disorderly conduct; and violating a personal protection order (PPO) following an incident Tuesday night, Aug. 11, on Johnson Street.

The Hart Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Johnson Street shortly after 10 p.m. for a reported PPO violation, said Hart Police Chief Dan Leimback. The man had left the residence and was walking down Johnson Street near Griswold Street when he was confronted by police, Leimback said. He became combative, and additional backup was called. The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office and the Hart post of the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is awaiting arraignment in 78th District Court in Hart, the chief said.
