HART — Lt. Governor Brian Calley will be the guest speaker at the Oceana County Republican Committee’s Lincoln Day Picnic Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Ochs Ranch, 3869 N. 104th Ave.

The pig roast with the usual picnic menu will be from 3-6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person.

State Senator Goeff Hansen, State Representative Jon Bumstead and Oceana County elected officials, as well as numerous local officials, plan to attend. Congressman Bill Huizenga has been invited.

“This year we decided to have a fun picnic instead of a dinner,” Chairman Dr. Rudy Ochs said. “Our picnic is going to be during the Oceana County Fair. We arranged to have the pig roast in the afternoon in order that everyone can enjoy the Oceana County Fair in the evening. I have invited Lt. Calley to join us at the fair for the animal auctions. It will be a fun day!”

A silent auction will also be held at the picnic.

Tickets for the picnic are $25 and will be available at the entrance to the event. Children under 10 are free.

The Oceana Republicans will have a booth at the county fair again this year and plan to conduct a “Straw Poll” on the Presidential candidates. The booth is in the Commercial Building.

The September meeting of the Oceana Republicans will be Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Golden Eatery in Mears. At the meeting final plans will be made for the fall rally which will be “Pizza and Politics” at Hart Pizza Sunday, Oct. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. For information about the monthly meetings and any of the events, contact Vice Chairman Juanita Pierman at 231-869-4338.
