HART — A 48-year-old Muskegon Heights man is looking at an eight-and-a-half month jail sentence after pleading guilty Monday, Aug. 3, in 27th Circuit Court to possession with intent to deliver less than 50 grams of heroin.

James William Sydnor, Jr., testified Monday that police searched him after he exited a vehicle, May 6, at a local gas station and found heroin on him.

The sentencing guidelines for the conviction are 7-23 months in jail. The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison.

One count of possession less than 25 grams was dismissed in a plea deal, which calls for an eight-and-half-year cap on his jail time.

Sydnor was remanded back to the Oceana County Jail until his Sept. 28 sentencing. He is currently lodged on a $25,000/cash/surety bond.
