78th District Court sentencings

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

– Mark Raymond Broda, 34, of 5626 Ottawattamie Dr., Pentwater, was found guilty July 27 of attempted interfering with electronic communications. He was sentenced to one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; and $450 in fines and costs. One felony count of interfering with electronic communications and one misdemeanor count of domestic violence were dismissed.

– Gilberto Juarez-Almanza, 25, of 3289 E. Arthur Rd., Rothbury, was found guilty July 27 of allowing a person to drive in violation and sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; and $400 in fines and costs. One count of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) dismissed.

– Kevin Boyd Walters, 44, of 171 W. 1st St., Shelby, was found guilty July 28 of DWLS. He was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; and $225 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Joel Belen Flores, 24, of 2301 N. 116th Ave., Hart, was found guilty July 27 of allowing a person to drive in violation. He was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; and $400 in fines and costs.

– Afrodicio E. Benitez, 68, of 116 N. Polk Rd., Hart, was found guilty July 27 of operating while impaired. He was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with court orders; credit for time served if imposed; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $1,055 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.
