GOLDEN TWP. — A man with a critical leg injury resulting from a crash at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Wednesday afternoon, July 29, was airlifted by an Aeromed helicopter for emergency treatment.
Few details were immediately available, but Oceana County Sheriff Robert Farber said the man’s injuries are non-life-threatening. Although, the damage to his leg is so severe it is possible it may have to be amputated.
Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Roy Strait, who was at scene, said a motorcycle struck the back of a Jeep. The injured man was apparently operating the bike, and it did not appear that anyone else was injured in the crash.
The injured man was airlifted from the landing zone at the Cornerstone Community Church near Val-Du-Lakes at about 5 p.m.
DNR officers from the Silver Lake State Park, Oceana County EMS and the Hart Area Fire Department assisted at the scene.
No other details were immediately available. OCP will provide updates as soon as additional details are released.
