Free classes will teach healthy cooking on a limited budget.

HART — Michigan State University Extension Office will present Cooking Matters, a free nutrition/healthy cooking demonstrations Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 18 through September 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rennhack Orchards Market, 3731 W. Polk Road. The programs are for men and women who want to cook healthy on a limited budget and will be presented by Stephanie Ostrenga of MSU Extension. 
At the end of each session, participants will get a free grocery bag full of items they need to prepare the meal they learned about during the demonstration. There are no income requirements or family size requirements for taking the course, although the target audience is men/women with limited incomes.  Anyone who could benefit would be welcome, including older adults, young parents, “sandwich generation” adults, etc.  Child care is not provided.
There are six sessions over three weeks. Participants must attend four of the six  sessions to graduate.
