HART — The sanitary sewer and water main replacement is complete, and the water main was pressure tested and chlorinated for the Johnson/Water Street Project, according to Hart City Manager Stan Rickard.

The next phase of the project includes: new water main tied into the existing mains; final water service connections; relocated sanitary sewer lateral connections; manhole replacement on Water Street; and miscellaneous storm sewer replacement.

City electric, Charter cable and Frontier telephone will perform relocations. DTE gas contractors returned to the site to relocate another gas line.

All underground work should conclude by Friday, July 31. Street lighting will be constructed by a subcontractor to Hallack Contracting.

Road construction will commence in early August with sub-base and grading followed by curbs, drive aprons and sidewalks.

The Water Street road surface from Johnson to Lincoln streets will be milled off sometime in early August in preparation for resurfacing.

Finally, sidewalks are closed so use extreme caution when using the road right-of-way to access property. Conditions are very dangerous and the terrain may change often.

Contact City Hall at 873-2488 if you have questions or concerns about the project. “This project is a short-term inconvenience for a long-term improvement,” states Rickard. “Thank you for your patience.”
