Two injured in ORV crash

MSPLEAVITT TWP. — Troopers from the Hart post of the Michigan State Police are investigating an ORV personal injury accident that occurred on 198th Avenue near Harrison Road Saturday, July 11, at approximately 2:30 p.m.  Preliminary investigation shows that a 23-year-old Montague man lost control of his ORV, struck a tree and rolled the ORV, causing he and his 21-year-old female passenger to be thrown from the vehicle.

The driver was flown by Aeromed to Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids where he was listed in serious, but stable, condition with facial injuries. The passenger was transported to Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont to be treated for her non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.  Neither subject was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No other information was immediately available.
