Spinnaker Condo firePENTWATER — The residents of the Spinnaker Condominium complex that overlooks Pentwater Lake in the village evacuated the building Tuesday morning, July 7, due to a fire in an upstairs unit that was quickly extinguished.

Pentwater and Hart fire departments, along with Oceana County EMS, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:30 a.m. No one was injured in the blaze, said Pentwater Fire Chief Terry Cluchey. The cause of the fire had not been determined, but Cluchey said there was an explosion. Each condo has its own heating unit, he said. Central Dispatch initially reported that the caller stated that the blaze was in the boiler room and was spreading quickly.

Damage appeared minimal from the outside of the building. Fire crews began clearing the scene approximately one hour after arrival. No other details were immediately available.
