GRANT TWP. — The Michigan State Police, which is contracted by Electric Forest Festival promoters to provide law enforcement on site, released its activity report Tuesday, June 30.

MSP activity during the huge four-day music festival, June 25-28, at the Double JJ Resort includes:
– 50 complaints investigated by troopers
– Eight suspects were lodged in the Oceana County Jail
– 20 subjects are pending arrest after review by the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office

Charges include:
– 23 felony drug charges
– Eight misdemeanor charges, including three assaults and five drug charges.

Troopers responded to or assisted EMS and festival security with several medical calls within the festival grounds.
According to promoters, ticket sales for this year’s festival were approximately 40,000.

The MSP has provided law enforcement services for the 2008 and 2009 Rothbury Festival and the 2011 through 2015 Electric Forest Festival.

Troopers from every post in the Lower Peninsula were assigned to the event. Trooper’s positions were backfilled at their assigned posts, preventing any loss of law enforcement. Any compensation, overtime, travel costs, or other expenses are reimbursed by festival promoters so this service is completed at “no cost” to Michigan citizens.
