3-car crashGRANT TWP. — An 87-year-old New Era man, who rear-ended a Part Plus car causing a three-car crash on Oceana Drive near Roosevelt Road Monday afternoon, June 29, was cited for failure to stop, police said today.
The Parts Plus car, a 2011 Ford Fiesta, was stopped on the roadway as the 29-year-old Shelby woman driving it was waiting for traffic to clear, so she could turn left into the auto parts store parking lot, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The 87-year-old driver of a 1999 Buick Park Avenue was southbound and did not notice that the Fiesta had stopped, the report states. He hit the rear of the Fiesta, forcing the car into the northbound lane, which was was then hit in the front by a 2001 Pontiac Montana driven by a 24-year-old Kalamazoo man. The Montana contained one occupant, a 24-year-old Chelsea, Mich. man.

A deputy at the scene said two people were hospitalized, but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries. The accident report indicated that seat belts were worn by all those involved in the crash.
