MONTAGUE — Reconstruction of the Hart-Montague William Field Memorial Trail between Stanton Boulevard in the City of Montague and Wood Street in the City of Hart started Monday, June 22, with preliminary work to remove and rebuild the overlook decks along the trail. In the coming weeks, the work and impacts will substantially increase.

Phase I of the trail project begins Friday, June 26, at Stanton Boulevard and continues north to Winston Road, and that portion of the trail will be closed. Crews will work on mowing the trail and applying a herbicide pretreatment. Once the herbicide has dried, the trail will reopen during the Fourth of July holiday. Notices will be posted at access points along the trail alerting trail users of the herbicide application.

After the Fourth of July, Phase I of the trail resumes for approximately six weeks while the entire trail is reconstructed. During this time, there will also be shoulder closures and occasional lane closures with flag control on all cross streets within the Phase I project limits.
