GRANT TWP. — A tower that filtered power to the old section of the Double JJ Resort near Rothbury where the gigantic Electric Forest Festival kicks off this Thursday, was completely burned in a fire Monday, June 22. No one was injured in the blaze.

Grant Township, Shelby-Benona and Montague fire departments were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11 a.m.

The two-story, wooden-framed structure completely burned. According to the Hart post of the Michigan State Police, the building is also used as a pool storage facility and pump house.
The gas meter was not immediately extinguished as a safety precaution — so natural gas wasn’t released into the air — until utility crews could get to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a fire investigator is slated to examine the scene.
