OCSO cruiserHESPERIA — A 32-year-old Hesperia man is wanted by police on possible charges of felonious assault and home invasion in connection to an incident early Friday morning, June 12, in the 100 block of Elm St. where the suspect allegedly struck his ex-wife’s boyfriend in the head with a hammer.

Oceana County sheriff’s deputies and a Michigan State Police trooper were dispatched to the scene in the Village of Hesperia at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office. “A victim told deputies that her ex-husband had just broken into her home through a window armed with a hammer. The victim says she warned her boyfriend to run, and she was struck by the hammer in the arm; the suspect then struggled with the gentleman in the home; and struck him in the head with the hammer. The struggle continued on for several moments until the suspect then smashed a hole in the victim’s dresser with the hammer and left through the same window he’d entered from,” the press release states.

“Deputies and the trooper searched the area during the time of this investigation,” the press release states. “During this search, a different man was arrested on an outstanding warrant, although the suspect was not yet located. The incident is still under investigation, and a report of this incident has been turned over to the Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review, and warrants for appropriate charges.”
