SILVER LAKE — An action-packed weekend is in store at a scenic hotspot.
The Second Annual Blues, Brews and Dunes Festival is set for Saturday, June 6, as well as the Michigan Adventure Race. Then, the Blessing of the Duners is on tap for Sunday, June 7, at noon.
Blues, Brews, & Dunes Festival
Enjoy live blues music by Hank Mowery & the Hawktones and Thirsty Perch Blues Band, as well Michigan craft beer and delicious food prepared by local vendors. The festival runs from at 2-10 p.m.
Kids activities from 2-4 p.m. include facepainting, easel painting, “Ready, Aim, Fire with Officer Pizzarelli,” and kazoo playing.

Michigan Adventure Race: Silver Lake Edition
The five-hour race will feature beginner to intermediate biking, orienteering, and trekking along with two or three skill-based Amazing Race challenges: paddle boarding, sand boarding and possibly a monster waterslide down the dune. A couple of “mystery challenges” will also be included.
The eight-hour race will have intermediate to advanced trekking/orienteering, intermediate singletrack, two track and road biking, and paddling. Two-person teams may use single or tandem kayaks or canoes on the paddle section.
Divisions include: solo, two-person (co-ed, females or males), or combine to form an unofficial three-person team.

Blessing of the Duners
The event is scheduled for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the ORV section of the Silver Lake State Park on the sand dunes along Lake Michigan’s beach.
Father Donn Tufts will conduct the blessing at noon. Duners will begin lining up on the beach at 11 a.m.
