ROTHBURY — Four people were transported to an area hospital by Oceana County EMS Thursday, May 14, following a truck vs. van crash at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Winston Road and Oceana Drive.

A 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by an 83-year-old Montaguetruck-van crash -1 man was westbound on Winston Road, leaving the Wesco convenience store, when it collided with a 2009 Ford Econoline van driven by a 48-year-old Hesperia woman that was southbound on Oceana Drive, said Michigan State Police Trooper Doug Tanner of the Hart post, who was dispatched to the scene.

The truck narrowly avoided crashing into the Rothbury Tavern as it came to rest on a gravel area next to the building.

The man received a hand injury in the crash, he said, and the driver of the van received airbag burns. Two passengers in the van, who are in adult foster care, also received minor injuries, Tanner said. One of them was complaining of shin pain, and the other was complaining of chest pain, he said.

All of the crash victims were wearing seatbelts, the trooper said, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. Grant Township First Responders and Grant Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
