HART — A 78-year-old Pentwater woman was being treated at the scene of a three-vehicle crash that occurred at noon Wednesday, April 29, at the intersection of Tyler Road and 72nd Avenue.

No one else was injured in the crash, said Michigan State Police Trooper Todd Goodrich.

The woman, who was driving a GMC Envoy, was southbound on 72nd Avenue and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, apparently thinking the intersection was a four-way stop, Goodrich said. The Envoy was then struck by a full-size GMC pickup that was westbound on Tyler Road. A Toyota Pruis that was waiting to turn left to head west onto Tyler Road was then struck by the pickup. The Pruis was the only vehicle involved in the crash that was carrying a passenger, Goodrich said. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt, he said.

The woman, who “bumped her head” in the accident, is being cited for failure to yield, the trooper said.

Hart Police Department, the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Oceana County EMS and the Hart Fire Department also responded to the scene. Tyler Road was closed west of the accident scene, so emergency personnel could clean up the wreckage and tow truck drivers could haul away the vehicles.
