Johnson/Water Street project to begin June 8

HART — A $798,000 improvement project on Johnson and Water streets is set to begin early this summer and scheduled to continue through the end of summer.

Planned improvements include water, sewer and electric; sidewalk replacements and upgrades; Johnson Street reconstruction from State Street to Peach Street; and Water Street resurfacing from Johnson Street to Lincoln Street, states a City of Hart press release.

Hallack Contracting of Hart will begin construction activities June 8, and the scheduled completion date is Aug. 21. Design and construction engineers are Prein & Newhof of Muskegon. The city will fund the project with a combination of grant funds and local funds with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) grants totaling $296,000 (37 percent) and city funds totaling $502,000 (63 percent).
