VICTORY TWP. (Mason Co.) – West Shore Community College’s Business Opportunity Center (BOC) is being re-energized by new personnel.  Crystal Young has started as the new director, and Cara Mitchell is the administrative assistant.

The Business Opportunity Center is the connector between businesses and the college, offering customized trainings, Open Entry/Open Exit courses, and other resources as needed.

“The role of the director is an important one for West Shore, as this position serves as a primary contact for service to our business community in training, entrepreneurship and support of economic development,” said Dr. Lisa Stich, vice president of Academics and Student Services. “We are so pleased to have found, in Crystal Young, a candidate with both local connections and impeccable credentials.”

The BOC also works closely with local chamber of commerce offices and economic development agencies to coordinate efforts in supporting entrepreneurial efforts and community enrichment opportunities.

“This is a very exciting time for the college and our community,” Young said. “We will work to invigorate the BOC with innovation and responsiveness to businesses’ needs, as well as with individuals on their level to enhance their options for future employment.”

Young, a graduate of Mason County Central High School, has an extensive background in sales and marketing, having started her career with a global manufacturing company, Koenig and Bauer Associates, Inc.

Mitchell, a graduate of Ludington High School, has experience in management, and is closely tied to the small business community; she and her husband own Mattress Max in downtown Ludington.

More information about the BOC is available at www.westshore.edu or by calling 231-843-5825.
