Medical care facility embezzler sent to jail

HART — The former Oceana County Medical Care Facility employee who embezzled over $5,000 from the facility during her employment there was sentenced Monday, March 16, in 27th Circuit Court to serve 15 days in jail of a 90-day discretionary sentence.

Judy Kumzi, 49, of Hart is convicted of a felony of embezzlement over $1,000/ under $20,000.

“She was in charge of the college reimbursement fund,” Bizon previously said. Kumzi was facing a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine in addition to restitution.

Judge Anthony Monton ordered that Kumzi pay the $5,120 in restitution within her two-year probationary term. She was also ordered to pay $198 in fines and costs and was given credit for one day already served in jail.
