HART — The 44-year-old Montague man who reportedly stole a trailer Feb. 16 from David Allen Racing Motorsports only to return Feb. 25 and allegedly steal a snowmobile has been arraigned in 78th District Court on two felony charges.

Trevor William Heistand is facing two counts of larceny $1,000 or more/less than $20,000, according to Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Craig Mast. Each count is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

Heistand was arrested after OCSO issued a warrant, Feb. 27, Mast said. His bond was set at $5,000/10 percent, which he posted and was released a short time after his arrest.

Heistand is accused of stealing a 2014 Shorelander utility trailer valued at $2,000 from the DAR lot in Greenwood Township, Feb. 16, and a 2011 Bombardier SKT Ski-Do, valued at approximately $8,500, Feb. 25.  Surveillance video showed that the same suspect vehicle was used in both crimes, Mast said.

“Through an investigation, a suspect was developed and the stolen property was recovered at the suspect’s residence,” Mast previously stated.
