Man injured on US-31 while swerving to miss car

GRANT TWP. — A 28-year-old Hart man suffered minor injuries in a single-car accident during a snowstorm on US-31 near the Rothbury rest area Tuesday, Feb. 24, shortly after 11 a.m.

Claud Ray Beck was traveling south in a 2008 Ford Fusion, according to an accident report from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, and “stated there was a vehicle either traveling slow or stopped in the roadway. Beck swerved to miss the car and went into the snowbank. Beck stated he had his seatbelt on, but hit his head on something in the car when his vehicle hit the snowbank. The other vehicle did not stay at the scene.”

Beck sought his own treatment, according to the report, and no citations were issued by police.
