VICTORY TWP. – West Shore Community College is accepting scholarship applications from students who plan to attend for the 2015-16 academic year.
The deadline to apply for scholarships is April 17.
The college, the WSCC Foundation, community groups and private donors offer numerous scholarships to fit nearly all student academic records, backgrounds, and financial situations.
WSCC’s web site lists many of the scholarships and gives a brief description and the general eligibility requirements for each.
The information can be reviewed online at www.westshore.edu by clicking on the financial aid link under the future or current student tabs or in the student’s portal, my.westshore.edu, go to the student tab, then myScholarship.
A WSCC admission application must be completed to be eligible for scholarships.
To qualify for a need based scholarship, an applicant must complete the 2015–16 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
For students who may need help writing a personal essay for a scholarship, the college’s Writing Center will offer workshops on March 16 and April 8, at 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Writing Center is located on the second floor of the Schoenherr Campus Center.
The workshops are open to all students, including those transferring to another college or university, who wish to learn good tips and practices for writing essays that are needed on many entrance or college scholarship applications. Representatives from the Writing Center will lead the workshops.
